Il Pizzarello è un “rito” della tradizione molfettese e si tratta di una pagnotta particolare a forma ovale e appuntita, farcita con tonno e olio extravergine d’oliva, o anche nelle varianti con aggiunta di capperi e acciughe.
La tradizione durante la settimana santa voleva che le processioni un tempo fossero svolte di notte e per questo all’alba quando la processione attraversava la città, le confraternite consumavano questo pasto per strada. Oggi a molfetta la tradizione del consumare “u pizzaridd” è rimasta ancora durante il venerdì Santo.
